Job Description

As a Technical Publications Writer, you will work closely with Developers, Quality Assurance, Product Managers and other key areas and teams of the enterprise to document new features and enhancements for all releases. You will also update and maintain the content of existing documentation while you contribute to keeping the look and feel of the documentation contemporary.

As a member of the Technical Writing team, you will report to the Technical Publications Manager and will take ownership of various task, including, but not limited to:

  • Writing and editing new task-based content for existing end-user documentation that is concise, grammatically correct, and technically accurate.
  • Gathering and documenting business and system requirements.
  • Updating existing published materials to ensure consistency with style guides.
  • Design, create, and manage:
    • Comprehensive end-user materials for new products.
    • Supplemental training materials, and implementation notes for the latest Pulse products.
  • Participating in focus groups with the goal of creating audience analysis.
  • Developing and producing product-related videos.
  • Coordinating multiple documentation deliverables and strategic projects simultaneously.
  • Testing UI for documentation purposes.
  • Reviewing UI labeling for clarity and consistency.
  • Editing internal content developed by other departments.
  • Preparing and publishing release materials on a timely basis.
  • Adopting new approaches and technologies as needed.
  • Contributing to on-going internal process improvements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.


An ideal candidate will be proficient with the following authoring and content-management tools:

  • MadCap Flare
  • Camtasia
  • Atlassian Collaboration Suite
    • Confluence
    • JIRA
  • MS Office
  • Source control software such as GIT Hub
  • Knowledge of Agile processes.
  • Working with extended teams.
  • Experience with EHR and medical billing software is an asset.


The following educational background and/or equivalent real-world experience is preferred:

  • A bachelor's degree in English or Communications, a related field, or 3 years of equivalent work experience with a degree, or 5 years of equivalent work experience without a degree or certification
  • A certificate in technical communications is preferred.
