Job Description Solutions is searching for an experienced Buyer who will be responsible for developing and executing business strategies that support company sale, gross margin, and turnover objectives. The Buyer is solely responsible for maximizing the sale and profitability of designated product, and will have an appropriate reaction to sales trends. Job Description: Opportunistically purchase quality, brand name goods Analyze company history, and current business in order to strategically forecast future opportunities Maintain knowledge of market conditions regarding price, and resources as they relate to trends and key items, and react accordingly to impact sales Negotiate and make decisions to buy, while in the market place Travel as required. Develop and source products that are exciting and unique to Solutions Establish and maintain a professional rapport with vendors Negotiate effective purchase terms that support company goals, and deliver value our customer Monitor and manage vendor performance Preparing purchase orders; expedite and facilitate the flow of merchandise from vendors to Solutions Supervise and direct assigned Assistant Buyer training and developing Provide stores with direction in merchandising presentation, space allotment, point of purchase information, signing, and product knowledge. Plan, coordinate and ensure availability of products for advertising and major promotions. Partner with Planner on the development of assortment plans. Visit stores on a periodic basis to monitor execution, gather feedback, and to provide support and assistance. Profile target customer to ensure merchandise is appealing and meaningful for the customer Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans and pricing strategies by introducing newness and understanding that merchandise is constantly changing Provide department direction and priorities, and communicate effectively to merchant team Complete accurate forecasts evaluating financial components based on current trend, knowledge of future events and trends which will impact the business Provide input into marketing plans and promotional calendar Provide input on visual presentation guidelines for the stores to support seasonal strategies Develop merchandise strategy for department/category that aligns with corporate objectives Provide input, and implement post-season learnings from merchandise planning and analytics analyses Required Skills: Must have a minimum of five years of merchandise buying experience in a fast paced environment Familiar with JDA or AS400 would be an asset Bachelor's Degree in related field Proficient with MS Excel, and MS Word Prior experience as a Buyer in a large, multi-unit retail environment Must have a proven history of successfully driving sales results Must have strong analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills Must have a proven record of strong negotiating skills, with examples Must be a go-getter, with a "can-do attitude" and a true excitement for the business Creative, entrepreneurial minded, with a strong comfort level with taking measurable risks Experience with planning, forecasting and allocation Understand the customer and the market Ability to develop, plan and execute strategies Effectively deal with all levels of management Strong team playing, clear communication, and relationship building skills are very important in order to be successful in our business.
