Job Description General Labourers Description: Richmond Steel Recycling Limited ("RSR"), is looking for 15 General Labourers to join the team located at 11760 Mitchell Road on Mitchell Island in Richmond, BC. Overview: The General Labourer position is a permanent, full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Operations department Supervisors/Managers. Job Summary : The General Labourers are responsible for sorting through scrap metal or plastic according to grade and size by performing the following duties, as follows: · Removal of metal/plastic from sorting table, hand-truck, or conveyor types of metal/plastic by sight on sorting table. · Keeping work area clean · May be assigned to operate or repair simple mechanical equipment · Other duties or special projects as may be assigned Requirements · High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Must be able to comfortably wear all Personal Protective Equipment. (I.e. Uniforms, Safety glasses, Steel Toed Shoes, Hardhat, earplugs) · Safety conscious · Strong attention to detail · Ability to take direction · Good interpersonal skills · Strong problem solving · Ability to multitask and prioritize Benefits · Base rate: $17.80 per hour · Comprehensive benefits package containing: Full Extended Health and Dental Benefits, Medical Services Plan (MSP) for yourself and all eligible dependents. Company Description Richmond Steel Recycling, a scrap metal recycler, categorizes scrap metals as either ferrous or non-ferrous. Scrap appliances, automobiles and other light gauge metals are shredded into small pieces. The ferrous and non-ferrous metals are first separated and then further separation of the debris takes place using blowers and reverse magnets. The metal is then sold to steel mills or smelters for production of new steel or non-ferrous metals.
