Job Description We are looking for a diligent Cost Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. The Cost Estimator will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its growth. The Cost Estimator's job responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Understand the project/program and its requirements Determine key variables for cost and other estimates Gather and read blueprints and technical documents in order to prepare estimates Conduct research to obtain data on labour costs, materials, and production times etc. Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting Utilize CAD software to determine material usage and assembly process Evaluate a product's cost effectiveness or profitability Recommend ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable Collaborate with engineers, customers, plant associates for best process /strip layouts on estimates Obtain outside quotes for purchased parts/outside processes Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and bids for customers Other duties as assigned Qualifications we are looking for include, but are not limited to: Min. Engineering Technician or Technologies Diploma Certified Tool & Die license is an asset 2 years as Cost Estimator or similar position in automotive industry, stamping preferred Intermediate proficiency in Unigraphics (NX) or Solidworks 3D CAD software Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Ability to read component, assembly and equipment drawings and have an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Strong organization, analytical, planning and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to function both independently and with good judgment in a team environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English. Proven ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization. Effective problem identification and resolution skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support demanding automotive customer requirements.
