This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions. Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible for a wide variety of secretarial duties and functions within Mental Health & Addictions. These duties include, but are not limited to, work in the following areas: reception and telephone, computer applications, typing and transcription, staff support, program support, management support, client and community contacts, documentation and records management, research support, general office duties. This position serves all of the Mental Health and Addiction Outpatient Services & Quality & Research Programs at Colchester East Hants Health Center. This position may require travel to various locations and as such access to transportation is required. Qualifications Graduate of a recognized post-secondary secretarial or office administration certificate or diploma program required Two-three years direct recent experience in a health-related field preferred Knowledge of medical terminology required Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, internet and email and a working knowledge of office equipment required Knowledge and prior experience in use of SAP software and Meditech required Knowledge of Mental Health and Addictions programs and services within the local community, the Northern Zone, as well as within the province is considered an asset Must possess interpersonal rapport and skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients and community at large Must possess considerable organizational skills necessary to ensure effective time management of office operations, and the meeting of deadlines Experience with Dictaphone and transcription required Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills (communicates in a respectful, honest and genuine manner) Excellent interpersonal skills (ability to put others at ease, uses skills and genuine interest in others to build respectful trusting relationships) Ability to effectively plan and organize (balances multiple duties, distinguishes between urgent/non-urgent priorities, updates team members on progress) Team player and cooperative (proactively offers assistance to team when needed, supports team's purpose and acts to positively influence team results) Ability to work under occasionally stressful conditions in a busy office setting High degree of professionalism as to offer reception services to individuals from all areas of society with a variety of problems and challenges and from diverse cultures Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume an associated costs as a condition of employment PLEASE NOTE: Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
